Last week, we had a fantastic time on their residential at Crosby Lakeside. The children had great fun raft building, canoeing, problem solving and orienteering. World Book Day 2017 - 2nd March
We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day. We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters, sharing our books and discussing our opinions. Have a look at our photos - can you guess which book characters we are?
Narnia - 10th February
We had a fantastic time today visiting the fictional world of Narnia. We arrived at St. George's Hall, Liverpool and were split into two groups to allow us to experience the world of Narnia from different perspectives - Lucy's and Edmund's. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and it helped bring the book to life for us. We will be doing lots of cross curricular work over the next few weeks related to our experience so please check back soon to see how we got on.
We had a fantastic time taking part in the Sponsored Bounce this week. The school raised an amazing £1,315.50 which will help towards the cost of residential trips including ours to Crosby Lakeside in June. In addition to this event, the Year 4 children are busy planning an enterprise day in May which we hope will raise further funds to reduce the cost of our trip. Thank you so much for all of your support with these events.

English - The Iron Man by Ted Hughes - January 2017
Over the past few weeks, we have been reading 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We have enjoyed making predictions and summarising the story throughout. During our English lessons, we have taken part in lots of role play. We freeze framed parts of the story to discuss the feelings of the characters, created our own TV news bulletins and had a very lively class debate about whether or not the Iron Man should help the villagers.
Science - Digestive System
This term, we have been finding out about the digestive system. We had fun showing the journey of our food through the body. Ask us all about it.
Geography - Rome, Italy
We looked at atlases to locate the UK and Italy. We located Southport and Rome. We discussed journeys that we make and the modes of transport that we use. Using the atlases and the key we worked together to plan journeys from Southport to Rome using different modes of transport. We looked at journeys involving cars, aeroplanes, trains and boats. It was really interesting to find so many different ways of travelling to Rome. We found lots and thought about the length of time it would take to arrive. Some journeys would take a lot longer than others!
Science - Sound
This term, we have been busy finding out all about sound. We have had fun planning our own investigations to find out how sound is affected by distance and if the size of your ear affects the distance you can hear sounds from. Ask us what we found out.
Roman Day - 3rd November 2016
Today, we were visited by a Roman soldier. We had such a fantastic day learning all about life in Roman Britain. We learnt all about the Roman army, food, entertainment, health and hygiene. We even found out about Roman toilets which we found particularly funny! At the end of the day, we became Roman soldiers and learnt how to form a testudo to protect ourselves from attack. Ask us all about it.

We have been busy finding out about Julius Caesar this week.
English - 'The Legend of Gelert' - October 2016
