Welcome to Year 6!
Welcome to our class webpage where you can f
Some of our year 6 children led a collective worship on Monday for some parents. The worship focussed on endurance and how Jesus showed endurance, through many hardships, whilst in the desert. The children discussed the importance of showing endurance in everyday life.
Year 6 had a fantastic day taking part in a range of experiments for British Science Day on Friday. They got to make absorbent nappies, test out spinners, create coloured water, use static to make paper ghosts dance and their own bubble machines. Have a look at all the fun we had.
In year 6, we have been reading the story Holes. We have loved finding out about Stanley and his friends. As part of our work on Holes, we wrote letters home as if we were Stanley telling our mum how ‘wonderful’ camp is. We also created desert sunsets using pastels and lizards using fine writer pens.
Year 6 had an amazing day dressing up as their favourite characters, sharing books and performing poems. Have a look at some of the brilliant costumes our class wore.
Here are our completed reports. We are really pleased and proud of our finished work.
On Thursday, some of our year 6 parents were invited into the classroom to watch their children perform their collective worship. The group worked extremely hard on their worship and all who took part learnt a valuable lesson about compassion. It was lovely, at such a busy time of year, to have some quiet time to reflect.
Year 6 visited Stanley High School last week for an action packed day. They took part in PE, Science and Computing lessons. The children had a fantastic day making videos, performing experiments and playing a range of sports.
As part of Disability Awareness Day, the children took part in a range of activities which helped them to gain some understanding of what it is like to live day to day with a disability. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and developed their understanding.
Some of the pupils lead our class collective worship this week. Using the bible story of ‘Moses and the Burning Bush’, the children explained how this story symbolised faith. Moses showed faith in himself and God. We really enjoyed the worship and the time to reflect.
Year 6 have been working hard learning about fractions. We have enjoyed playing games like 'Factors and Multiples' and creating Maths museums which demonstrate our understanding of one tenth and its equivalents.
We have been learning all about non-chronological reports in English this week. We are now working on our own reports and we can wait to share them with you. Keep a look out on our page to see our finished pieces.
In Science, year 6 have been creating circuits. We investigated how to make simple circuits and we wrote about what we found out. We are going to use our findings to plan our next experiments.
In year 6, we have become poets. Using the poem 'The Door' by Miroslav Holub, we created our own poems, made videos, produced art work and performed the poem as part of a whole school assembly. Have a look at some our amazing work.
