Christmas Luncheon Club

Our school recently hosted an Older People’s Luncheon Club at St Simon and St Jude’s church hall. The project has been funded by Celebrate Big Lottery Funding. This was a delightful occasion for our older community members, as over 40 people gathered together to celebrate Christmas.

Not only did they enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, they also enjoyed a Christmas quiz, a free raffle and a stunning performance by children from Year 2 & 3 who sang to our guests as the afternoon’s activity came to an end.

There was also a presentation of some beautiful gifts and flowers for Mrs Tarjomi to wish her well for her retirement and to thank her for all her hard work in making the luncheon club possible.

Year 6 then presented their guests with Christingles that they had made as part of their smile challenge. Thank you to David Whitehouse for providing the venue and a host of church volunteers, to Miss Gommersall for organising the children’s performance, to the children for singing so beautifully, to Lesley Kirkbride, Tesco’s Community Champion who worked with the children to make Christingles for everyone, and donated some raffle prizes; to Judith and Gina for cooking up such a tasty meal and to all the volunteers at the church that helped make this a memorable occasion!
