Coronavirus Update

17th March 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

I am writing to update you on the school’s approach to dealing with the current situation in respect to the Covid 19 Coronavirus.

As a public service, we are following National guidance and our intention is to remain open until we are either:

·         Instructed to close by government [this would be a full closure]

·         Forced to close because of shortage of staff [this might be partial or full closure]

While we are open, we plan to keep our routines as normal as possible, however we are stopping some activities that necessitate travel out of school, such as swimming, sports competitions and trips. Where money has been paid for trips, we plan to reorganise them; if this is not possible, we will refund all money paid after the Easter break, when we hope to have a clearer picture.

The latest current guidance and advice is; "If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days."

It is important that all in our school are following this advice to restrict any possible transmission of the virus.

If you are concerned about the transmission of the virus at home due to family members having serious, underlying health issues, family members living in the household who are over 70 or if members of your household are pregnant, please follow the advice on the link below.

Please see this important advice regarding vulnerable groups and social distancing:

We are getting updates from the DFE with regards to the Coronavirus. Due to the fast-evolving nature of this situation, however, it is important that you look at the UK Government’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) web page for the most up to date information.

Please visit the Young Minds website for advice on how to talk to your child about Coronavirus.

How will parents be kept informed?

Your first point of contact should be the NEWS section of our school website – any updates will be posted here.

Other communication will be via Parentsapp. We can be contacted by email. Please see the school website for details.

Maintaining children’s education when not in school:

We are currently planning for activities that can be completed at home. Most of these will be online activities which should need minimal parent input. We will also provide some paper based work for this purpose. Further details will be sent out shortly.

We also want children to keep reading as frequently as possible and practising times tables!

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully
