National Memory Day
On Thursday May 24th, children from Bishop David Sheppard CE Primary School went along to Hesketh Park Lodge Residential Home to celebrate National Memory Day. They entertained the residents with songs and poems and really enjoyed chatting about the past. It was great to learn about some of the items used by children and their families in the olden days such as thimbles, miniature doll house furniture, ration coupons as well as pounds, shillings and pence. After a delicious cake and some tea the children returned to school having learned what life was like in years gone by.
Our thanks go to Lynda Hilton for organising the event and to all the residents who made our children so welcome. They look forward to visiting again on Armed Forces Day.
