Welcome to our Governors
Mr Brian Johnson
I was appointed to the governing body of Bishop David Sheppard CE Primary School as a foundation governor in May 2015 and became Chair of Governors in September 2016. I really enjoy being part of this welcoming, caring and vibrant school with wonderful staff and amazing boys and girls. Working with the governors, Mrs Bayliff and her staff to ensure the children receive the very best care and education within the love of God is an absolute privilege.
Until July 2014 I too was a Headteacher of a C of E primary school in Southport, having previously worked as a teacher in Sefton since 1976.
I now work for Edge Hill University as an Associate Tutor as well as Co- Facilitator of the Southport Learning Partnership which includes 27 Southport schools. I am a very active member of the Southport Salvation Army and a long suffering supporter of Southport Football Club.
Mrs Diane Swarbrick
I have been a governor at Bishop David Sheppard School for a number of years and feel privileged to have been involved as the school has grown into the vibrant, happy and caring school where all pupils are encouraged to strive for the top by our enthusiastic team of staff.
I am married and have 2 sons who both attended Bishop David Sheppard School. I am a member of St Simon and St Jude’s Church and work as a Registered General Nurse within the Local Health Authority.
Mrs Helena Knapton
High Park has been where I have lived with my husband Keith for over 20 years and where my daughters have grown up. We consider the area to be our home and have been hugely impressed at the commitment and impact of the teachers of Bishop David Sheppard School in the local community. The education of children is very important to me – I work at Edge Hill University and for many years have been involved directly in the training of teachers. In addition, together with my husband, I take an active role within St Simon and St Jude’s Church as a reader and Bible study group leader.
Mr Mike Molyneux
I was appointed as a Foundation Governor at Bishop David Sheppard School in June 2021 and look forward to serving the school and the local community during my time as Governor.
I was born and brought up in Manchester and have lived in High Park for the last 24 years with my wife, Anne, who is originally from Southport. We have two grown up children who both now live in the Midlands. I retired in 2018 after a 40 year career in Town Planning and Economic Development across the North West and North East of England working in areas with high levels of deprivation.
I am an active member of St Simon and St Jude’s Church where I currently serve as one of the Churchwardens and lead a Bible Study on Sunday evenings.
