BDS Remote Learning Policy

Below is our plan for home learning should your child need to access work at home. We know that learning from home is not easy for anyone so we have established a plan to try to make things as smooth as possible and create a sense of normality for the children.

We have asked teachers to provide the following each day through their Google Classroom platform. Work will be accessible from the second day of your child’s absence:

  • Reading activity
  • Maths session
  • Grammar Activity
  • English Session
  • A foundation subject such as Art or Science
  • Spellings (once a week)

Families will need to plan for their own breaks during this daily routine based around their own needs.

The children all have logins for:

  • Google Classroom
  • Purple Mash
  • Timetable Rockstars (Key stage two only)

If your child is in Reception, they will receive the following through the Tapestry platform:

  • Phonics session
  • Maths session
  • Reading session
  • A topic based activity

If your child is in Nursery, they will receive the following through the Tapestry platform:

  • Reading sessions
  • Maths activity
  • A topic based activity

If your child is experiencing any difficulties accessing the work or needs some support, they can message through their Purple Mash email or on the Google Classroom stream. Teachers will check the platform daily.

When children are learning remotely, they are accessing the internet a lot more. The following sites give tips on how to keep your children safe whilst online.

Google Classroom Support

Google Classroom is the platform we have chosen to use if your child is asked to self-isolate. This is slightly different to what we did during lockdown but on this page we have provided materials that will hopefully make the experience run smoothly for you and your family. At the beginning of term, every child is given their own log in. Should you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
