At Bishop David Sheppard Primary School, we respect difference, value diversity and embrace equality and fairness for all. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity, in which all stakeholders connected to our school feel proud of their identity and are able to participate fully in school life. We will tackle discrimination by the positive promotion of equality, challenging bullying and stereotypes and creating an environment which champions diversity and respect for all.
Our objectives were decided on after consultation with all members of our school: parents, staff and children and are as follows:
- For all children (when required) to have access to services provided through school including clubs; the food pantry; the uniform shop, electronic devices; tuition and transport
- To ensure effective communication for all parents so that all children enjoy equality of participation in events and afterschool clubs
- To address pupil mental health as part of our commitment to childhood well-being.
They will be monitored every year, and once they have been achieved to the Governors satisfaction, we will involve you in selecting our next objectives. Our Equality and Diversity champion is Mrs Clarke – the assistant Senco – please feel free to contact her if you have any concerns, issues or comments.
The governor responsible for monitoring Equality and Diversity is the Chair of Governors, Mr Brian Johnson.
