Active Soccer trip to LFC Academy

The children who have committed to Active Soccer this term got the opportunity to play a 5-aside tournament at Liverpool Academy, And by all accounts they had a marvellous time!

Here they are in action and meeting the LFC mascot.

Design and Technology

After their trip to Southport, the children experimented with art straws to manufacture the strongest structures they could. They then reported their findings to their friends and went on to design their own art straw piers.

History Trip to Southport Town Centre

In history, the children have been learning about the Victorians and how this period of history helped shape the town where we live. They went on a clue hunting tour of the town, taking in the ornate, symmetrical architecture, followed by a chilly walk along the pier.

As well as thinking about the history of our town, the children observed the pier with their ‘science hats’ on. They looked at the structure of the pier and considered the materials that have been used in its design and why they are suitable for the job.

Chinese New Year

The children enjoyed a dance session with Jade, our visiting dance teacher, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Gong Hei fat choy!

Gymnastics

The children have started gymnastics this term in PE. They have been learning all about how to improve a balance by using their core muscles and extending their bodies to create straight lines. The children started off by investigating different shapes on their own, and progressed to working together to create a group pose.

Topic Homework

Well done to everyone who produced geography topic homework. We saw some amazing models and fabulous fact sheets/posters.

Keep up the good work!

Planting Bulbs

This half term the children have been learning all about bulbs. Our school won 3000 daffodil bulbs in a local community competition and enjoyed planting them with our special volunteers.

We love reading!

The children value the time we spend reading together and are enjoying bringing in their favourite books from home. Keep an eye out for your child and their favourite book!

Pizza Express

The children enjoyed their trip to Pizza Express where they discussed food hygiene and healthy eating options. Even Luigi, the class bear, joined in!

The Botanic Gardens

Today we were scientists on a very special mission. We were searching for clues that it is autumn time.

As well as gathering an abundance of autumnal evidence, we also looked at the play equipment and discussed the materials that they are made out of. We realised that metals and plastics are what most of them are made out of.

Take a look at our wonderful photographs to see us enjoying our learning outside.
