We love maths!
This week our focus has been on geometry! We started our week off investigating right angles. What are they? Where do we find them? How do we know if it is a right angle? Throughout the week we have been set different challenges to try and find the answers to these questions. Have a look at what we found...
World Book Day
We loved celebrating World Book Day this week! We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters and sharing our favourite books with the rest of the class. Have a look and see if you can spot a well known character from a book!
Science
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about our bodies and what we need to eat and drink to keep ourselves healthy. This week we really enjoyed learning about the different bones and their posh scientific names. We used our knowledge of these bones to create our very own skeletons!
Canopic Jars
During our topic on Ancient Egypt, we have learnt all about the mummification process. Part of this process was to remove organs and place them in canopic jars. Using different sources, we researched the four types of canopic jar and designed our own. We then used clay to make it, taking time and care so that they looked as accurate as possible. Have a look at our final products!
Our Ancient Egypt Books
We have been working so hard over the past few weeks to create our own books about Ancient Egypt. Once they were finished, we shared our wonderful books with year 2. They were very impressed with what we had produced!
Ancient Egypt
Our topic this term is the Ancient Egyptians and we will be learning lots of interesting facts about when they lived, how they lived and their beliefs.
This week we have been learning about how important the River Nile was to the Ancient Egyptians and what they used it for. Using the River Nile, we were able to begin to locate cities on a map that were important to the Ancient Egyptians. We particularly enjoyed creating our very own mini River Nile in the classroom!
Our Science Morning 22.9.16
This week we had a special visitor, Ms Eccles, in to teach us an exciting science lesson. We were asked to investigate whether a car moves in different ways on different surfaces. We put our scientist hats on and worked together to gather some interesting results.
Maths Fun!
We really enjoyed working together to create maths 'Museums' to represent different three digit numbers. Have a look at our fantastic work!
Roald Dahl Day - 16th September
Year 3 had a fantastic day celebrating Roald Dahl's 100th birthday! We enjoyed reading and listening to some of his stories and also created some wonderful artwork. We even dressed up as our favourite characters!
