World Book Week
World Book Week or 'Pirate Week' has been a lot of fun and very busy! We enjoyed reading the 'Jolly Roger' by Colin McNaughton and used this as our inspiration to produce some fantastic writing. On Friday, we finished our week with a fantastic pirate celebration, we shared the work we had created and showed off our wonderful pirate costumes!
Disability Awareness Day - 2.3.16
Today was Disability Awareness Day and we met a man called John McCorkell who has had cerebral palsy since birth and runs a company called 'It's all normal' which aims to promote inclusion.
During the day, we were lucky enough to spend some time with John, who talked about his life and experiences. We were also given the opportunity to ask him questions to develop our understanding of what it is like to be disabled.
We were so inspired by how John tackles any challenges or hurdles he may face with a positive attitude!
Guinea Pig Week
This week we had three special visitors...our new pet guinea pigs! We have had lots of fun visiting them and thinking about what we should name them. We have also enjoyed producing some wonderful poetry using the guinea pigs as our inspiration.
